Over the summer, I’d scouted these locations with full intent on using them for a shoot, but never had the time. Was so happy to have Maggie join me for this on one of the last nice fall days of the year!
Downtown Halifax with Victoria Moore
It was a hot day in the city when we shot these. But Victoria stuck it out with me as we explored some lovely spaces in the downtown area. It's always an interesting experience shooting in very bustling populated areas, but I'm so pleased with what we captured!
Ethereal in the Woods with Karen Murdock
Working with Karen was like working with an old friend. She was so cool about crawling and climbing amongst the trees to get the shot. I love revisiting a favourite location during different seasons. Always a fun challenge to get different and new results!
City Summer Colours with Sheena Parris
I've been admiring this gorgeous mural for some time, so I was so pumped to photograph Sheena with it! Sheena was so patient and lovely as I navigated a new camera, and scoured the area looking for beautiful colours. Enjoy!
Dreamy Florals with Shannon O'Connor
Shannon absolutely rocks a floral dress! So why not completely surround ourselves in flowers while we're at it? The rain held off for us while we captured these amazing colours. And it wouldn't be a shoot with me without climbing into the bush because "the ground looks so cool!"
Forest Fairytale with Ashley Shaw
What a stark contrast between this series, and my last post! Ashley made my cheap-online-purchase dress look like a dream. So happy to be kicking off the warmer seasons with these!
Fierce in the Forest with Kelsey Kennedy
It was cold enough to freeze fingers the day we shot these! Kelsey however shrugged it off and did an incredible job posing with plenty of laughs in between shots! Thank you for braving the cold with me!
Winter Warmth with Skylly Zhan
Skylly graciously lent me her time to romp through the woods for this shoot! We were graciously given a mild day by mother nature to make these happen, and Skylly definitely makes walking in high heels in the forest look easy!
Winter Hues with Victoria Moore
It was absolutely frigid outside when we shot these, but you'd never know by Victoria's face! She braved the cold with me and was so cool about it (pun not intended). Shoutout to those who accompanied us out in the wind, including my other half who manned my lights!
Autumnal Vibes with Emily Gillis
I'm absolutely in love with the colours in this shoot! Shooting on a windy beach never gets any easier, but Emily made it look so easy. It's always a pleasure to chase that good light, and admire the friendly dogs we encountered along the way!
Fall Colours with Naomi Puddicombe
It was thanksgiving morning when I shot these, and Naomi was kind enough to spend some of her time posing amongst the foliage. We played with colour and shadows a lot during this shoot. Naomi is new to modelling but I think she rocked it!
Foggy Beach Vibes with Geena
I had mentioned to Geena on our adventure that I rarely get the chance to shoot in a foggy environment. Mother nature must have been listening, because we were gifted with the most beautiful diffused foggy light! Geena herself brought some super fun character to these shots as well! Enjoy the fruits of our labours.
Dreamy Forest with Malia Kong
I recently had the pleasure of reconnecting and working with Malia, and shot along one of my new favourite walking trails. It was hard choosing just a few shots, but here are some that had me gushing!
Sunshine in the Gardens with Rebecca Alaffe
It was a scorcher of a day when Rebecca and I shot these in Public Gardens. Out of all the pretty blossoms that were out, it was this draping purple tree that caught my eye the most. I played with angles a lot during this shoot, trying a few varieties of lighting. Big thanks to Rebecca for being such a good sport when I asked her to climb in the bushes!
Seaside Textures with Clayton Barry Murphy
Last July we took advantage of a gorgeous summer day to do some seaside shooting at Point Pleasant Park. I chose to make use of the natural light, and interesting textures of the beach and surrounding areas. Clayton graciously offered to stand for me as well, and was lovely to work with! Enjoy our results!
Downtown Halifax with Stephanie Marshall
Stephanie had informed be of this amazing red dress, and I just knew we had to photograph it! We dared the busy downtown streets on the weekend to shoot in, out, and on top of the Halifax Public Library. I think it was worth it!
Spring Blooms with Dominique Petipas
Earlier in the spring, Dominique was kind enough to climb into some greenery for me! She kept her composure despite the occasional awkward branch and uneven terrain. A big thanks goes out to her for bringing the smiles and laughs as we romped through nature, and parking lots alike in search of beautiful light.
Boudoir at the Alt Hotel with Stephanie Marshall
It was such a pleasure to work with Stephanie again. This time around, she bravely agreed to step out of her comfort zone and try her hand at boudoir. I'd wanted to use the Alt Hotel for a while now, and the gorgeous room and pool served as a perfect backdrop. Props to Stephanie who was so patient when my lights stopped working! We powered through nonetheless, and worked with what we were given.
Halifax Street Photography with Sheena Parris
Earlier this month, I happened upon some rare free time. Sheena took me up on some simple street shooting, on what started out as a dreary day. As our shoot progressed, we were rewarded with some beautiful light, and some laughs in between shots. Big thanks to Sheena, who was incredibly patient as I maneuvered my light on this windy day, and for being a natural in front of the camera.
Wintery Seaside with Cassidy Megan
It was a beautiful, but blustery day at High Head Trail, and while the ocean provided a gorgeous backdrop, it was very chilly. But you would never know to look at Cassidy, who put on a brave face and rocked the looks we picked out for her. HUGE thanks goes out to her, her lovely mother Angela, and of course my other half for the assist with the lighting.
